    Reactivity refers to the capability or tendency of a substance to undergo chemical reaction with other substances by releasing energy or exchanging electrons. The degree of reactivity is influenced by various aspects such as the valence electron configuration, nuclear charge, atomic or ionic radius, etc. It is a key concept in chemistry and chemical engineering.

A responsible discussion of chemical reactivity can be found in any standard textbook on physical chemistry. The term reactivity is related to the concepts of chemical stability and chemical compatibility.
