    President Ford, officially known as Gerald R. Ford, was the 38th president of the United States. He served from 1974 to 1977 after assuming the position following the resignation of President Richard Nixon. Before his presidency, Ford served as Vice President under Nixon and was a member of the House of Representatives for 25 years, representing Michigan's 5th congressional district. He is the only person to have served as both Vice President and President without being elected to either office by the Electoral College. His presidency is often associated with the end of the Watergate scandal and efforts to heal the nation following a period of great political turmoil.
