A prairie schooner is a type of covered wagon used by North American settlers in the 19th century to travel westward across the Great Plains. It was light, and often used by families, enabling swift, efficient travel. Its name comes from its white canvas cover, which from a distance resembles a sailing ship. This wagon was known for its resilience and ability to carry a lot of weight relative to its size.
