    Palmitin, also known as palmitic acid, is a type of saturated fatty acid that naturally occurs in fats and waxes including olive oil, palm oil, body lipids and hard margarine. It is considered to be a major component of oils and fats and is one of the most common saturated fatty acids found in animals and plants. In its pure form, it is a colorless crystalline solid. In human body, it is known to increase cholesterol levels and is associated with increased risk of developing cardiovascular diseases when consumed excessively.
