optical illusion
An optical illusion is a visual phenomenon where the information perceived by the eye is processed by the brain in a way that creates a perception that does not tally with the true physical reality. These illusions exploit the visual system's tendencies, assumptions and ingrained rules to present manipulated or ambiguous information, causing misinterpretations of size, length, position, depth, or movement.
Wikidata
Optical illusion
An optical illusion is characterized by visually perceived images that differ from objective reality. The information gathered by the eye is processed in the brain to give a perception that does not tally with a physical measurement of the stimulus source. There are three main types: literal optical illusions that create images that are different from the objects that make them, physiological ones that are the effects on the eyes and brain of excessive stimulation of a specific type, and cognitive illusions, the result of unconscious inferences.

Examples of optical illusion in a Sentence
It's an optical illusion on the second shot, it's uphill, but it looks downhill. It plays a fraction longer than you want it to. The stance you have wants you to hit a draw. But if you miss a shot with the ball above your feet, it's often to the right. And that's where all the trouble is.
