Pulmonary embolism and cardiac tamponade are considered forms of obstructive shock. Obstructive shock has much in common with cardiogenic shock, and the two are frequently grouped together. Some sources do not recognize obstructive shock as a distinct category, and categorize pulmonary embolism and cardiac tamponade under cardiogenic shock.
