neural tube
The neural tube is a key embryonic structure in multicellular animals, which develops in the early stages of embryonic growth and eventually forms the brain, spinal cord, and central nervous system. It begins as a small group of cells that fold and close to form a hollow tube. Any defects in this development process can lead to serious health conditions, such as spina bifida and anencephaly.
Wikidata
Neural tube
In the developing chordate, the neural tube is the embryo's precursor to the central nervous system, which comprises the brain and spinal cord. The neural groove gradually deepens as the neural folds become elevated, and ultimately the folds meet and coalesce in the middle line and convert the groove into a closed tube, the neural tube or neural canal, the ectodermal wall of which forms the rudiment of the nervous system.

A tube of ectodermal tissue in an embryo that will give rise to the CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM, including the SPINAL CORD and the BRAIN. Lumen within the neural tube is called neural canal which gives rise to the central canal of the spinal cord and the ventricles of the brain.
