My Brother
My Brother is the biography of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan, by his sister Fatima Jinnah. It is thought that the publication of Hector Bolitho's book, Jinnah Creator of Pakistan in 1954 prompted Miss Jinnah to write about her brother as it was felt that Bolitho's book had failed to bring out the political aspects of her brother's life. It was published by the Quaid-i-Azam Academy in 1987. A major focus of the book are his political aspirations and how his failing health affected them. The Daily Times summarized it as "...he was aware of the peril his failing health posed, thus wanted to do whatever he could to build the new country whose existence was precarious owing to lack of resources and enormous challenges on the economic and political fronts." It explores his feelings of betrayal in older age and sickness, for example, when picked by an ambulance when struggling to breathe, it ran out of gas, and then lay in wait for an hour for another to come. My Brother makes a controversial claim that Muhammad Ali Jinnah was born in Kharadar, Karachi, and not the Wazir Mansion, that official records declare.

During a time when the world was focused on my brother as a monster, she was able to see him as a human being and provide him with that kind of human contact and emotional support at a time when he had very little sympathy from anyone, she really sees each human being as a human being and defines them not in terms of what they may have done or how sick they may be or how fanatical they may be, but through a kind of human core.

Philonise Floyd appeared Wednesday before House Judiciary CommitteeHouse for an oversight hearing on policing and law enforcement accountability. The testimony came after George Floyd was killed in Minneapolis police custody in late May, an event that has sparked a national outcry along with sustained protests and civil unrest over the issue of police misconduct and racial injustice, as well as calls for Congress to act.In the wake of national protests and unrest, House and Senate Democrats have unveiled sweeping police reform legislation, while Senate Republicans are also now working to craft their own reform proposal.
