    Wow=I've been using it incorrectly? I thought it was the equal of saying 'good luck"/Bless you etc. But then the English version isn't even included in the translations! So, mazel.

      No, you are correct. It's just not English - it's Hebrew as you probably know. "Mazel means lucky in Hebrew. The more common usage is as a salutation or expression of joy for someone - "Mazel Tov" (good luck) after hearing of good news like having a baby, at weddings, even for a job promotion would be appropriate. It can can even be used as a sarcasm -"just my mazel" when you have bad luck or just as "have good mazel" for good luck.. Unlike many Yiddish and some Hebrew words, it has not yet passed into Englsh as a colloquialism and then as an accepted word into most English dictionaries. It may, given time and if used enough by the general population. Keep using it. You're not incorrect. Mazel tov to you.
