  1. Lockport

Lockport is a historic city located 30 miles southwest of Chicago. Will County, Illinois, United States. Lockport was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on May 12, 1975. The city was incorporated in 1853 and is situated along the Illinois and Michigan Canal. Recently, it was named one of the fastest-growing suburbs in America, by Forbes Magazine. The scenic golf course, walking paths, vintage downtown, parks and recreation and accessibility to I-355 and 80 add to the city's appeal. Lockport was the headquarters of the operationally defunct Illinois and Michigan Canal. A section of the canal runs through Lockport, including the remains of the canal's Lock No. 1 from which the town received its name. The canal right-of-way is now the Illinois and Michigan National Heritage Corridor. Because of proactive efforts dating back several years, the city of Lockport is one of the best-preserved Canal sites in existence today.
