The Knights Templar were a medieval Christian military order founded in the early 12th century. They became one of the wealthiest and most powerful organizations in the Christian world, renowned for their warrior monks who fought in the Crusades in the Holy Land. The order was also involved in a wide range of economic activities, including finance. It was dissolved in the early 14th century under charges of heresy and other controversial behaviors. The Knights Templar have since become a subject of numerous legends and conspiracy theories.

Knight Templar
Knight Templar is the title of a mystery novel by Leslie Charteris first published in 1930. This was the fourth book—and third full novel—featuring Charteris' Robin Hood-inspired anti-hero, Simon Templar, alias "The Saint". The title of the book is a pun on the religious organization Knights Templar. Later editions were titled The Avenging Saint and the book is also well known by this title, which was first used in a 1931 edition.
