Wiktionary
Jacquelinenoun
A female given name from French.
Jacqueline was so named simply because their mother had liked the ring of the word, sounding Parisian and worldly and auguring, to her mind, a good life.
Etymology: French feminine diminutive form of Jacques (= James). From Hebrew יעקב ("Ya‘akov"), from the Hebrew root עקב (‘akev), heel, because Jacob was born just behind Esau, and was grasping Esau’s heel in an effort to prevent him from being born first.
