  1. jack pine

A jack pine is a type of pine tree native to North America, scientifically known as Pinus banksiana. It typically grows in poor, sandy soils, and is characterized by its twisted, irregular growth pattern and needle-like leaves. Its cones usually stay closed for many years until a fire causes them to open and release the seeds. Jack pine is often used for timber and pulpwood. It's also a common choice for windbreaks or erosion control due to its toughness and resistance to harsh conditions.
