    Secrecy; bye-place.

    Etymology: corrupted perhaps from huger morcker, or hug in the dark. Morcker in Danish is darkness, whence our murky. It is written by Sir Thomas More, hoker moker. Hoker, in Geoffrey Chaucer, is peevish, crossgrained, of which moker may be only a ludicrous reduplication. Hooke is likewise in German a corner, and moky is in English dark.
