haemophilia B
Haemophilia B, also known as Christmas disease, is a genetic disorder characterized by a deficiency in a clotting protein called factor IX, which is essential for blood to clot properly. This deficiency leads to prolonged bleeding or spontaneous bleeding in muscles, joints, or internal organs. The severity of haemophilia B can vary depending on the amount of factor IX in the blood, with lower levels generally indicating more severe cases. It primarily affects males, but females can be carriers of the gene.
