This is a plant of the family Myrsinaceae. Glaux maritima is a native to Europe and North America. The plant grows in coastal habitats and mesic interior habitats, in both wet ground and water. This plant differs from all other genera of the former Primulaceae in having apetalous flowers with a pink, petaloid calyx. It is generally pentamerous both in the calyx and the seed capsule.
