    A ganglion cell is a type of neuron located in the retina of the eye that receives visual information from photoreceptor cells via various intermediate cells such as bipolar cells, amacrine cells and horizontal cells. These cells then transmit this information to the brain through the optic nerve, playing a crucial role in the visual perception process. There are several types of ganglion cells, each contributing to different aspects of vision.
