  1. family eleotridae

Family Eleotridae, commonly known as the sleeper gobies, is a family of fish native to fresh, brackish and marine waters in tropical and subtropical regions. These fish are usually small to medium-sized, only reaching up to 50 cm in length. They typically dwell at the bottom of the water, hiding under rocks or within sand, hence the name 'sleeper'. This family of fish is distinctive because they do not have a suction cup formed from the pelvic fins which is common in most gobies. With about 34 genera and 150 species, many species under this family are specialized for life in freshwater streams and estuaries.
