Examples of excavations in a Sentence

  1. Stefania Giudice:

Excavations are like having children. You have to take care of them. You can't just abandon what you find and move on to the next thing, it is a real responsibility.

  2. Maamoun Abdelkarim:

We cannot evaluate the destruction to the ruins from the criminal secret excavations ... It will take weeks to assess, we have been into the museum and to the Temple of Bel, the amphitheatre, and the colonnaded street.

  3. Jo Anne Van Tilburg:

The near exclusive use of one quarry to produce these seventeen tools supports a view of craft specialization based on information exchange, but we can't know at this stage if the interaction was collaborative, it may also have been coercive in some way. Human behavior is complex. This study encourages further mapping and stone sourcing, and our excavations continue to shed new light on moai carving.

  4. Joe Uziel:

The structure exposed is unique. To date such a structure has yet to be found along the stepped street in the numerous excavations that have taken place in Jerusalem and to the best of our knowledge outside of it, we believe the structure was a kind of monumental podium that attracted the public’s attention when walking on the city’s main street. It would be very interesting to know what was said there 2,000 years ago. Were messages announced here on behalf of the government? Perhaps news or gossip, or admonitions and street preaching – unfortunately we do not know.

  5. Natalia Polukhina:

It seems very strange to me to interpret this building as a water tank. In the same fortress of Naryn-Kala, there is an equal underground structure of 10 meters depth, and it really is a tank. This is just a rectangular building. The unusual building, in which we have put our detectors, has the shape of a cross, oriented strictly to the sides of the world, one side is 2 meters longer than the others, as the archaeologists who began excavations say, during construction, the building was entirely on the surface and it stands on the highest point of the Naryn-Kala. What is the sense to put the tank on the surface, and even on the highest mountain? It is strange. Currently, there are more questions than answers.
