Wikipedia

  1. elevates

Motion, the process of movement, is described using specific anatomical terms. Motion includes movement of organs, joints, limbs, and specific sections of the body. The terminology used describes this motion according to its direction relative to the anatomical position of the body parts involved. Anatomists and others use a unified set of terms to describe most of the movements, although other, more specialized terms are necessary for describing unique movements such as those of the hands, feet, and eyes. In general, motion is classified according to the anatomical plane it occurs in. Flexion and extension are examples of angular motions, in which two axes of a joint are brought closer together or moved further apart. Rotational motion may occur at other joints, for example the shoulder, and are described as internal or external. Other terms, such as elevation and depression, describe movement above or below the horizontal plane. Many anatomical terms derive from Latin terms with the same meaning.

Examples of elevates in a Sentence

  1. Funa Maduka:

I tripled speaking roles for women by bringing the voices of the Kalakuta Queen, women who fought and performed alongside Fela, to the forefront. Women have long been at the center of political movements, especially in Africa. To have a woman of Genevieve's caliber play a Kalakuta Queen, only elevates this legacy of leadership, fortitude, and grace.

  2. Barbara Howar:

There is nothing better for the spirit or the body than a love affair. It elevates the thoughts and flattens the stomachs.

  3. Georg Riedel:

I would say everyone who tastes wines in different-shaped glasses would believe they are actually different wines. And out of those, you can pick your preference, which proves that one shape elevates the components of the wine better than another, of course, a glass cannot change a wine from a bad wine to a good wine. We are not responsible for miracles.

  4. Kahlil Gibran, The Broken Wings:

I am one of those who believe that spiritual progress is a rule of human life, but the approach to perfection is slow and painful. If a woman elevates herself in one respect and is retarded in another, it is because the rough trail that leads to the mountain peak is not free of ambushes of thieves and lairs of wolves.

  5. Scott Ruesterholz:

I write conservative commentary because I have a vision of what I think can make the country and world a better place. Fiction can be a tool to expose readers to new ideas and shift perspectives while also entertaining, while my novel is not a pure political commentary, I do hope it elevates questions about the role of government, corporations, and integrity of institutions, which has also been a focus of my past commentaries.
