Wikipedia

  1. dawn horse

Hyracotherium ( HY-rək-o-THEER-ee-əm; "hyrax-like beast") is an extinct genus of very small (about 60 cm in length) perissodactyl ungulates that was found in the London Clay formation. This small, fox-sized animal was once considered to be the earliest known member of Equidae before the type species, H. leporinum, was reclassified as a palaeothere, a perissodactyl family basal to both horses and brontotheres. The remaining species are now thought to belong to different genera, such as Eohippus, which had previously been synonymised with Hyracotherium.

  1. dawn horse

A dawn horse, scientifically known as "Eohippus" or "Hyracotherium", was a primitive horse that lived during the early Eocene epoch. Smaller than modern horses, it had multiple toes on each foot, a short snout, and low-crowned teeth, indicating its diet consisted primarily of soft leaves. The dawn horse is considered an ancestral form of the modern-day horse, over millions of years it evolved into bigger, stronger species more familiar to us today.
