ChatGPT
basal vein
The basal vein, also known as the vein of Rosenthal, is a significant blood vessel located in the brain. It arises near the anterior perforated substance in the interior side of the cerebral hemisphere and drains blood from parts of the temporal lobe, occipital lobe, and internal structures of the brain such as the thalamus and globus pallidus. It drains into the vein of Galen, which then merges with other blood vessels to form the straight sinus. The basal vein plays a vital role in cerebral blood flow and circulation. Any blockages or abnormalities in this vein can potentially lead to serious neurological conditions.

Basal vein
The basal vein is a vein in the brain. It is formed at the anterior perforated substance by the union of ⁕ a small anterior cerebral vein which accompanies the anterior cerebral artery and supplies the medial surface of the frontal lobe by the fronto-basal vein. ⁕ the deep middle cerebral vein, which receives tributaries from the insula and neighboring gyri, and runs in the lower part of the lateral cerebral fissure, and ⁕ the inferior striate veins, which leave the corpus striatum through the anterior perforated substance. The basal vein passes backward around the cerebral peduncle, and ends in the internal cerebral vein; it receives tributaries from the interpeduncular fossa, the inferior horn of the lateral ventricle, the hippocampal gyrus, and the mid-brain.
