    In geometry, Apollonian circles are two families (pencils) of circles such that every circle in the first family intersects every circle in the second family orthogonally, and vice versa. These circles form the basis for bipolar coordinates. They were discovered by Apollonius of Perga, a renowned Greek geometer.

    Apollonian Circle: The set of all points in a plane whose distance from two fixed points is a constant ratio.

    Consider two points, p and q and a third point x whose distance from p is twice it's distance from q. All other points in the plane whose distance from p is twice their distance from q are on the same unique circle.
