Wikipedia

  1. AfterImage

Afterimage is a song by the Canadian rock band Rush. It was released on their 1984 album Grace Under Pressure. The track was dedicated to Robbie Whelan, a friend of the band who worked as an assistant engineer on some of Rush's earlier albums, most notably Moving Pictures and Signals. The song deals with the loss of a friend and the emotional aftermath that follows. The single was a Japan-only release. The opening lyric was quoted in the liner notes for Rush's 1998 live release, Different Stages, as a dedication to drummer Neil Peart's daughter and wife, who died in 1997 and 1998, respectively. The memoriam is as follows: "Suddenly...you were gone...from all the lives you left your mark upon..."In loving memory of Jackie and Selena

  1. afterimage

An afterimage is a visual perceptual phenomenon where an image continues to appear or linger in one's vision, despite the removal or cessation of the actual visual stimulus. This often occurs after one has been intensely focusing or fixating on an image or light source for a prolonged period. Afterimages can be both positive (appearing the same color as the original image) or negative (appearing as the complementary color). The effect is typically attributed to the overstimulation of the eyes' photoreceptors.

  1. Afterimage

An afterimage or ghost image or image burn-in is an optical illusion that refers to an image continuing to appear in one's vision after the exposure to the original image has ceased. One of the most common afterimages is the bright glow that seems to float before one's eyes after looking into a light source for a few seconds. Closing the eye can help achieve a better sense of the color in its own aspect. Afterimages come in two forms, negative and positive. The process behind positive afterimages is unknown, though thought to be related to neural adaptation. On the other hand, negative afterimages are a retinal phenomenon and are well understood.
