Adustionnoun
The act of burning up, or drying, as by fire.
Etymology: from adust.
This is ordinarily a consequent of a burning colliquative fever; the softer parts being melted away, the heat continuing its adustion, upon the drier and fleshy parts, changes into a marcid fever. Gideon Harvey, on Consumptions.
