  1. serum albumin

Serum albumin is the main protein present in human blood plasma, accounting for about 50% of blood serum proteins. It is produced in the liver and has several important functions, including maintaining osmotic pressure, which helps to control the distribution and balance of fluid in the body, and transporting a variety of substances such as hormones, vitamins, drugs and other essential nutrients throughout the body. The level of serum albumin in the body can also serve as an indicator of a person's nutritional and overall health status.

  1. Serum albumin

Serum albumin, often referred to simply as albumin is a globular protein that in humans is encoded by the ALB gene. Serum albumin is the most abundant plasma protein in mammals. Albumin is essential for maintaining the oncotic pressure needed for proper distribution of body fluids between intravascular compartments and body tissues. It also acts as a plasma carrier by non-specifically binding several hydrophobic steroid hormones and as a transport protein for hemin and fatty acids. Too much serum albumin in the body can be harmful.
