Wikipedia

  1. kunal

Kunala (IAST: Kuṇāla) (263 BC – ?) was the Crown Prince and son of 3rd Mauryan Emperor Ashoka The Great and Queen Padmavati and the presumptive heir to Ashoka, thus the heir to the Mauryan Empire which once ruled almost all of the Indian subcontinent. After the departure of Mahendra, Ashoka's eldest son, he was supposed to be the heir to the empire, but was blinded by his step-mother, Tishyaraksha, at a young age in jealousy. While he was not able to take the throne, his son, Samprati, became his heir. Kunala also served as the Viceroy of Taxila during the reign of his father, having been appointed to the position in 235 BC.

Kunal [ Nayyar ] has been one of those people kind of always was the heart of our cast, and so, often he’s the one to sort of express that kind of missing-ness. For me, I still get to work with Jim, which is amazing. He’s not able to be physically in Los Angeles because of COVID. But we do get to keep up in other ways.

  2. Jesse Eisenberg:

What the play does discuss is kind of generational strife. My character is third generation American and I think he feels the kind of laziness of assimilation, kunal's character is a new immigrant from Nepal and struggling to make it in an exclusive world of ... privilege that he is not a part of. The play discusses those themes and how my character, in a way, has lost his meaning because he doesn't have to struggle.
