  1. Dreams

"Dreams" is the debut single from Gabrielle. Written by Gabrielle and Tim Laws and produced by Richie Fermie, "Dreams" reached number one on the UK singles chart for three weeks in June 1993. The single entered the British charts at number 2, which was the highest chart entry a debut act ever scored in the UK at that time. The song also peaked at number 26 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the US and at number-one on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart. In Australia, the song made number 2 on the ARIA Chart. Originally the song included a sample of the song "Fast Car" by Tracy Chapman, but because of copyright reasons the sample had to be removed. This single is seen as her signature song and the title of her greatest hits compilation Dreams Can Come True, Greatest Hits Vol. 1 is based around its lyric. The song was later sampled by the More Fire Crew on their 2002 single "Dreams". The song is featured heavily in the 1999 Paul Thomas Anderson film Magnolia, where the character 'Quiz Kid' Donnie Smith plays the song repeatedly as a motivational aid.

Examples of Dreams in a Sentence

  1. Patanjali:

Peace can be reached through meditation on the knowledge which dreams give. Peace can also be reached through concentration upon that which is dearest to the heart.

  2. EMEASOBA GEORGE:

Never compare your life with someone else's life. You have no idea what he or she does secretly i.e. behind your back. Forgive all things and everyone. Never overdo anything, have a limit and keep to it. Don't take yourself and life so seriously. Overlook some things sometimes. Never waste your precious energy or time on gossip. Utilize your God-given energy and time. Dream big, be a visionary and dare to pursue your dreams and visions unyieldingly until you realize them. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need presently to survive. Any other thing which you think that you still need to live comfortably will be given to you by God in due course i.e. at the right time. Life itself is a school and you are meant to learn everyday from it. So, learn each day and then wise up. Challenges of life are like flowers that do show up for just a little while and then fade away. I mean, you are not yet done for. Oh! yes, once there is life there is equally hope. ~Emeasoba George

  3. Musin Almat Zhumabekovich:

Juicy goddess I crave you passionately, my love for you is inexhaustible and cyclical like nature itself and the universe and reincarnation. My feelings for you are infinite, like eternity itself, you are my romantic infinity. You are my oblivion, I forget about everything except you. Compliments I say to you reflexively at the subconscious level. My subconscious is praying and calling only you alone. Unconsciously, I only dream of you. I am consciously suffering only for you alone. You are my eternal love poem, the epically beautiful deity of my dreams, you are the eternal engine of my lovingly erotic thoughts about you. The generator of thoughts so poetically paints a portrait of an ideal woman, the best dreams about you alone. The soul and subconscious are singing about love for you. My soul cries out for love for you, and my loins groan with passion. Juicy goddess. Author: Musin Almat Zhumabekovich

  4. Arizona State University:

Imagination is essential to our ability to create, design and bring about the futures we want. Scientific inquiry, combined with our own dreams, fears and desires, are the building blocks of the future we will create.

  5. Aisha Tyler:

All of them told me that they believed in me, and I believe in them, these women made me feel brave, they made me feel bold and energized and ready to pursue my dreams.
