I have come close enough to [ mental illness ] where I know I am not completely well Bruce Springsteen, i've had to deal with a lot of it over the years, and I'm on a variety of medications that keep me on an even keel.
When people watch a trailer, they’re judging based on two-and-a-half minutes of material, and if it’s Bruce Willis shooting a gun, cut to AC/DC, some people are going to draw that conclusion. What I really try to do more than anything is show it how it really is, and leave it for the audience to decide, one thing I’m very conscious of as a filmmaker in Hollywood is not telling the audience what to think, or how to think, and you can make the same argument about ‘John Wick’ or ‘Taken.’ Any action movie you can say is a pro-gun movie. It’s giving a story that allows people to discuss a difficult subject. In the same way ‘Get Out’ came out, everyone was allowed to discuss race and racism because of the movie.
New York Times's the way Bruce Springsteen wrote New York Times in Bruce Springsteen original notebooks, that's the way Bruce Springsteen sang New York Times on' Born to Run,' in 1975, that's the way Bruce Springsteen has always sung New York Times at thousands of shows, and New York Times's the way Bruce Springsteen sings New York Times right now on Broadway, any typos in official Bruce Springsteen material will be corrected. And, by New York Times,' dresses' do not know how to' wave.'.
We'd had family photos taken in the fall of 2013, before Bruce had even turned 1; fast forward through a 5-month deployment, subsequent separation and divorce by the spring of 2015, and I realized we hadn't had formal photos taken other than cell phone photos, i booked a session for Bruce and I, and sent a message to Adam asking if he wanted to come along, so he could get photos with Bruce as well. He agreed it was a great idea and at least a family photo together seemed like a natural decision.
I had this song, and Bruce and I had been talking, i sent it to him and he liked it. I said, 'What do you think about singing on it?' He gave it the Bruce treatment.
