    Balázs (Hungarian pronunciation: [ˈbɒlaːʒ]) is a Hungarian equivalent of the name Blaise. Its feast day is on 3 of February. From the Latin nomen Blasius, itself from the adjective blaesus, meaning "lisping", "stammering". The Greek Βλάσιος comes from the adjective βλαισός, meaning "bent", "distorted" or "crooked". However, the etymological correlation between the Latin origin Blasius nomen and Greek origin Βλάσιος is uncertain.
