DOKUTSE PETEYE When the Migrants who were led by Matey Ika II and His half-brother, Dokutse Peteye Reached their father’s camping place at Huatsi, Dokutse Peteye managed to convince a few of his mother’s relatives and with them as his own army, took the Ada root and from Ada he led his people to the Osudoku Mountain where he joined his Elder brother Matey Ika II. After living together for a while, Dokutse Peteye decided to explore the boundaries of the Osudoku land which their fore-fathers have secured long before he was born. To this end, Dokutse Peteye who had his own followers now left the “Noweh Yo” and headed towards the land now known and called the Akuse Lands and settled at Amedeka. Dokutse Peteye explored the boundaries further and settled at “Whetsonya” for some time before he finally went to the Western Boundaries of the Gbese Land which shared boundaries with the Apredes and Akrades. There, he realized that, he could finally settle on the “Klom Yo” Mountain as it was then called because he found the mountain was inhabited by numerous Owls (“Klom”) in Dangme language. Dokutse Peteye Went back to his half-brother Mate Ika II and Priestly rites where performed for him and he became the first Nadu Priest over his followers on the “Klom Yo” which later became known as the Krobo Mountain. The Nadu shrine of his ancestors demanded that, Dokutse Peteye and his people must always provide servants (Worbii) to serve in the Shrine of his ancestors and this practice was adhered to up until the Nadu worship was abolished by the Gold Coast Government in the year 1892. Dokutse Peteye and his followers where on the Mountain of Owls (“Klom Yo”) when they came into first contact with his ancestor’s old boundary neighbours, the Apredes and Akrades. They agreed to keep the old boundary of their ancestors and lived as a peaceful people for many years. The Apredes being Akans, called Dokutse and his followers “Krɔbɔ fo” the original name was “Ekrɔ ɔbo so fo” which simply translates as… “Mountain dwellers” lack of proper English spelling words change the name to “Krobo” when English was introduced to the Osudokus and their Neighbours. Dokutse Peteye and his followers kept constant communication with his half-brother and his people on the “Noweh Yo” or “Yogwa” Mountain and anybody from Dokutse Peteye’s Camp was allowed to farm anywhere on the Gbese side just as anybody from the Gbese side was allowed to farm or haunt and fish on the Akuse lands. To this end, a Garrison village made up of Osudoku refugees was formed on the northern boundaries of the Akuse lands which was named Natriku. Purposely to protect Dokutse Peteye and his followers on the Mountain of Owls (“Klom Yo”) by way of giving early warning and also being the first frontline of soldiers to ward off any attach from the river banks. A similar Village was also placed at Asutuare to serve as a lookout to give early warning of invaders. . .
