Any of the small insectivores of the genus Neomys in the Soricidae family. There are three species, the "Eurasian water shrew" (also known as European water shrew) Neomys fodiens, the "Mediterranean water shrew" Neomys anomalus and the "Transcaucasian water shrew" Neomys teres.
