    The Gabonese National Unity Party (French: Parti de l'unité nationale gabonaise, PUNGA; Punga being the Eshira word for 'tornado') was a small Marxist political party based in Nyanga Province in Gabon. The party drew support from functionaries in the newly established public administration.

    In Māori mythology, Punga is a supernatural being, the ancestor of sharks, lizards, rays, and all deformed, ugly things. All ugly and strange animals are Punga's children. Hence the saying Te aitanga a Punga used to describe an ugly person.

    Punga (Greek πούγκα, η feminin) in modern Cypriot dialect means cloth purse tailored in a man's or woman's dress. Pungouin (πουγκούιν, το, neutral is the small punga tailored up front trousers to keep small coins). Pungίn (πουγκίν, το neutral, spelling pungin or puntzin) is the portable purse called also tsentin, τσεντίν).
