In addition, it develops, manufactures, and markets surgical products, including proprietary laser probes and laser scalpels made of synthetic sapphire or fused silica; disposable gas or fluid cartridge systems; reusable laser aspiration hand pieces for intra-nasal/endoscopic sinus and oropharyngeal procedures requiring smoke and/or fluid evacuation; cutting instruments used for sinus surgery; ClearESS, an irrigation and suction system to remove blood and debris for visualization during endoscopic sinus surgery; and proprietary laser units for contact and non-contact surgery. Further, it offers surgical services. PhotoMedex sells its products and disposables directly to dermatologists, plastic and cosmetic surgeons, and spas and salons, as well as through licenses with strategic partners. The company was founded in 1987 and is headquartered in Montgomeryville, Pennsylvania
