ostracoda
Ostracoda, also known as seed shrimp, are a class of the Crustacea, comprising small crustaceans characterized by a bivalve shell which completely encloses the body. They can be found in nearly all types of aquatic environments, from saltwater to freshwater and some even in damp terrestrial environments. Despite their small size and inconspicuous nature, ostracods represent an extraordinarily diverse and important group in the fossil record, vital for paleoenvironmental and biostratigraphic studies.
