    Ortega is a town and municipality in the Tolima department of Colombia, in South America. The overall population of the municipality was 36,421 as of the 1993 census. According to the 2005 census the overall population was 33,873, with 7,566 in the urban zone and 22,307 in the rural areas. Ortega is located at 402 meters above sea level, on an overall terrain of 945.93 km², and its average temperature is 26°C.
