  1. Magnetic Lag

    In magnetism the tendency of hard iron or steel especially to take up magnetism slowly, and to part with it slowly. (See Magnetic Inertia.) The lag affects the action of a dynamo, and is a minor cause of those necessitating the lead of the brushes. Synonym--Magnetic Retardation.
