Magnet, Lamination of
It is advantageous to make magnets of laminated construction, or of thin plates of steel. The thin metal can be better tempered or hardened than thick metal. A slight separation of the plates is advantageous from some points of view. If in actual contact there is some danger that the weaker members will have their polarity reversed by the stronger ones. This is counteracted to some extent by separation.
