Lafitte is a census-designated place in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 1,576 at the 2000 census. It is part of the New Orleans–Metairie–Kenner Metropolitan Statistical Area. Located at the southern end of Louisiana Highway 45 along Bayou Barataria, fishing is a major part of the local economy and culture.
