Joan
Joan is a 1967 album by Joan Baez. Having exhausted the standard voice/guitar folksong format by 1967, Baez collaborated with composer Peter Schickele, on an album of orchestrated covers of mostly then-current pop and rock and roll songs. Works by Donovan, Paul Simon, Tim Hardin, the Beatles, and Richard Fariña were included, as well as selections by Jacques Brel and Edgar Allan Poe. The recording of "Children of Darkness" was a tribute to Baez's brother-in-law, novelist and musician Richard Fariña, who had been killed in a motorcycle accident a year earlier. "La Colombe" is a French anti-war anthem about French soldiers being sent to fight Algeria in the latter country's bid for independence. The 2003 Vanguard reissue contains two bonus tracks: "Oh, Had I a Golden Thread" and "Autumn Leaves".

Examples of joan in a Sentence
Joan was a movie star, yes, but she was also a good friend, i remember our warm conversations and company. During her final years, yes she lived alone, but she wanted to live life on her own terms - and I think she did just that.
I have always been a huge fan of Joan's, and I'm thrilled that she's joining us for Sunday Night Football open, what better way to pay homage to the original SNF opening song than by getting to play with her on primetime's biggest stage ?
I was surprised at how candid she wasabout her sister Olivia de Havilland, she absolutely despised her. In fact, she was so disturbed over the idea that she would predecease her and Olivia would then somehow come to her home and steal the keepsakes that had once belonged to their mother. Now mind you, Olivia was living in Paris. But [Joan]went as far as to say, ‘I want you to be at my house when I die.’.
One survey found that ten percent of Americans thought Joan of Arc was Noah's wife....
I feel she was one of the first women who believed just because you were over 50 didn’t mean you couldn’t be viewed in a sexual way, she wasn’t afraid to get out there over the age of 50 to show her legs, to show her midriff. [At the time] once a woman was over the age of 35, the studio basically handed her a gold watch, so to speak. And I know in the case of Joan Crawford, even as late as the 1960s… she was still playing strong female romantic leads opposite leading men who were 20-30 years younger than her.
