Holozoic nutrition
Holozoic nutrition (Greek: holo-whole ; zoikos-of animals) is a type of heterotrophic nutrition that is characterized by the internalization (ingestion) and internal processing of liquids or solid food particles. Protozoa, such as amoebas, and most of the free living animals, such as humans, exhibit this type of nutrition where food is taken into the body as a liquid or solid and then further broken down is known as holozoic nutrition. Most animals exhibit this kind of nutrition. In Holozoic nutrition, the energy and organic building blocks are obtained by ingesting and then digesting other organisms or pieces of other organisms, including blood and decaying organic matter. This contrasts with holophytic nutrition, in which energy and organic building blocks are obtained through photosynthesis or chemosynthesis, and with saprozoic nutrition, in which digestive enzymes are released externally and the resulting monomers (small organic molecules) are absorbed directly from the environment.

Holozoic nutrition
Holozoic nutrition is a method of nutrition that involves the ingestion of liquid or solid organic material, digestion, absorption and assimilation of it to utilize it. It includes taking in the complex substances and converting them into simpler forms. Example, proteins can be broken into amino acids. This method suggests phagocytosis where the cell membrane completely surrounds a food particle. Most of the free living animals including humans exhibit this type of nutrition. In this mode of nutrition, the food may be a small bacterium, a plant or an animal. this nutrition involves: 1 Ingestion: Taking in complex organic food through mouth opening 2 Digestion: Change of complex food into simple form by action of enzymes. 3 Absorption: Passing of simple, soluble nutrients through blood or lymph. 4 Assimilation: Utilization of absorbed food for various metabolic processes. 5 Egestion: Expelling out the undigested food. This type of nutrition occurs mainly in unicellular organisms such as Amoeba. It even occurs in Humans as well, as in humans, the digestion is done through Alimentary Canal, which includes all the five processes of Holozoic Nutrition.
