    Heartbroke is a song written by Guy Clark, and originally recorded by Rodney Crowell on his 1980 album But What Will the Neighbors Think. It was later recorded by American country artist Ricky Skaggs. It was released in July 1982 as the first single from the album Highways & Heartaches. "Heartbroke" was Ricky Skaggs' third number one on the country chart. The single stayed at number one for one week and spent a total of eleven weeks on the country chart.

    Heartbroke is the first single from The Good Life's fourth full-length album, entitled Help Wanted Nights. It was announced that it would be in stores on August 21st, 2007. However, mail orders began arriving on August 13th. Accompanied by non-album b-side Thirty-Year Evaluation this release was made available digitally and as a limited edition 7" vinyl with B-side etching in hand-screened, individually numbered packaging.
