  1. Gottlieb

Gottlieb was an arcade game corporation based in Chicago, Illinois. The main office and plant was located at 1140-50 N. Kostner Avenue until the early 1970s when a new modern plant and office was located at 165 W. Lake Street in Northlake, IL. A subassembly plant was located in Fargo, ND. The company was established by David Gottlieb in 1927, initially producing pinball machines while later expanding into various other games including pitch-and-bats, bowling games, and eventually video arcade games. Like other manufacturers, Gottlieb first made mechanical pinball tables, then electromechanical tables starting in 1935. The 1947 development of player-actuated, solenoid-driven 2-inch bats called "flippers" revolutionized the industry. Players now had the ability to shoot the ball back up the playfield and get more points. The flippers first appeared on a Gottlieb game called "Humpty Dumpty", designed by Harry Mabs. By this time, the games also became noted for their artwork by Roy Parker. In the late 1950s the company made more widespread use of digital score reels, making multiple player games more practical as most scoring was expressed by cluttered series of lights in the back box. The score reels eventually appeared on single-player games, now known as "wedgeheads" because of their distinctive tapering back box shape. By the 1970s the artwork on Gottlieb games was almost always by Gordon Morison, and the company had begun designing their games with longer 3-inch flippers, now the industry standard.

Examples of gottlieb in a Sentence

  1. Alan Gottlieb:

This is an abuse of power by the Massachusetts attorney general, it is no different than President Obama’s illegal anti-gun executive orders. If these firearms were legal yesterday, they are legal today, Alan Gottlieb said in an email to FoxNews.com. This ban on semi-auto firearms must be stopped before gun prohibitionists in other states try to enact similar bans by fiat, Alan Gottlieb said. The debate is the latest example of the long-running argument between Second Amendment purists and gun control advocates about whether new firearms laws make people safer. Indeed, the fact that Massachusetts has so few murders committed using assault weapons could be seen as evidence that the original ban was successful. The enforcement notice from the attorney general says a weapon is considered a copy or duplicate if its internal operating system is the same as those of a specifically-banned weapon or if the gun has key functional components that are interchangeable with those of a banned weapon. Such weapons would include copies of the Colt AR-15 and the Kalishnikov AK-47, which are both prohibited by the state's assault weapons ban. Healey's office claims gun makers produce and sell what they call.

  2. Andy Slavitt:

Scott Gottlieb was Scott Gottlieb. This is not a partisan issue, this is an issue for everyone's public health, and will slow down the spread of the disease.

  3. Alan Gottlieb:

The intent of the new law is obviously to discourage teachers from having firearms to protect themselves and their students, Gottlieb said. But the law allows the school districts locally to make these decisions on their own. And maybe this new law will help convince school districts that they actually should make this decision on their own.

  4. Max Warburton:

His stewardship of VW has been indisputably successful. Piech will go down in history as an automotive legend, in the same class as Gottlieb Daimler, Henry Ford and Kiichiro Toyoda.

  5. Kenneth Kaitin:

Scott Gottlieb have to plan these activities in advance because Scott Gottlieb don't just suddenly have a building that's making drugs, when this shutdown ever ends, there's going to be, I think, a formidable backlog of applications that's going to slow everything down to a crawl for a while.
