Fresh Off the Boat
Fresh Off the Boat is an American sitcom television series created by Nahnatchka Khan and produced by 20th Century Fox Television for ABC. It is loosely inspired by the life of chef and food personality Eddie Huang and his 2013 autobiography of the same name. Huang also executive produced the series and narrated its first season. Depicting the life of a Taiwanese-American family in Florida in the 1990s, the series stars Randall Park, Constance Wu, Hudson Yang, Forrest Wheeler, Ian Chen, and Lucille Soong as the Huang family as well as Chelsey Crisp and Ray Wise portraying the family's next-door neighbors. The series premiered its first two episodes on ABC in February 2015 to positive critical reception, becoming the first network television sitcom in the U.S. to feature a family of Asian Americans as main characters in over 20 years. Prior to its second season, the series went through a retooling, which included Huang's departure as narrator. It received accolades as well as nominations for major awards, such as Critics' Choice Television Award and NAACP Image Award nominations. After becoming the first series featuring an all Asian American main cast to broadcast over 100 episodes, it concluded in February 2020 after six seasons.

Fresh off the boat
The phrases Fresh off the boat, Off the boat, 'Paki' Freshy, or just simply Boat; are terminologies used to describe immigrants that have arrived from a foreign nation and have not yet assimilated into the host nation's culture, language, and behaviour. "Fresh off the Boeing" is sometimes used in the United States as a variation, especially amongst south and south-east Asian immigrants. Within some ethnic Asian circles in the United States, the phrase is considered politically incorrect and derogatory. It can also be used to describe the stereotypical behavior of new immigrants as, for example, their poor driving skills, that they are educated yet working low-skilled or unskilled jobs, and their use of broken English. The term originates in the early days of immigration, when people mostly migrated to other countries by ship. In the sociology of ethnicity, this term can be seen as an indicator of a nature of diasporic communities, or communities that have left their country of origin and migrated, usually permanently, to another country. The term has also been adapted by immigrants themselves or others in their community who see the differentiation as a source of pride, where they have retained their culture and have not lost it to assimilation. In fact, instead of taking this harm-intended phrase as an insult, many Immigrants and more specifically, East and South Asians may use this term to describe their cultural background habits and fashion sense, for example "fobby clothing", "fobby glasses", "fobby accent", and others.

fresh off the boat
The Fresh Off the Boat (or FOB) is a street gang primarily based out of Calgary, Alberta, Canada which deals in the illicit proliferation of narcotics. The FOB was founded by the children of southeast Asain immigrants new to Canada and still restrict membership to those of Asian descent. Founding members were former high school buddies who were involved in supplying small amounts of cocaine, marijuana and ecstasy to rave parties. They were "dial-a-dopers," using cellphones and pagers to receive orders and arrange delivery. The FOB was once united until squabbling over money led some members of the original gang to quit and form their own group. They became known as the Fresh Off the Boat Killers. It wasn't a clean break, because the former friends still moved in the same small circles, setting the stage for insults and violent fights-often with knives or blunt weapons- whenever they crossed paths. Things turned deadly for the first time on Feb. 17, 2002, when FOBK member Vuthy Kong fatally stabbed Adam Miu in a fight outside a karaoke bar on 7Th Avenue S.W. From then on the two gangs met each other with deadly consequences, often resulting in brazen shootings involving multiple victims and casualties. Today, many of the original players are dead or in jail, but that has done little to stop the feud or cripple the gangs' criminal dealings. The veteran gang members who are left have moved up to the "wholesale" level, and new members have bolstered the ranks of both gangs on the street. This gang has been linked with other criminal organizations such as the Independent Soldiers, Redd Alert, Crazy Dragons and the Alberta Warriors.
