    I think that the word figary may originate from the Arabic word for an idea. Fikra. Or فكرة it is likely that also Spanish figurative and French vagary also derive from the Arabic root. I am most familiar with the frequency of use of this word in West Clare in Ireland where the word could have been introduced by Spanish or Atlantean seafarers and may have been a lexical item in use in maritime lingua Franca. Figure and vagary may well both originate from the Arabic or Semitic root and have become integrated into Latin languages.
