  1. Faldagenoun

    A privilege which anciently several lords reserved to themselves of setting up folds for sheep, in any fields within their manors, the better to manure them; and this not only with their own, but their tenants sheep, which they called secta faldæ. This faldage in some places they call a foldcourse, or freefold; and in some old charters ’tis called foldsoca, that is, libertas foldæ, or faldagii. John Harris
