The novel fits in the hard science fiction genre, describing a post-singularity society, where some humans have evolved further while others chose to remain behind. As usual with Dukaj's works, it deals with highly advanced technology and its implications for human society. It is the second of Dukaj's four stand alone novels, and the only one that has not won the Janusz A. Zajdel Award.
