  1. essential tremor

Essential tremor is a neurological disorder that causes involuntary and rhythmic shaking, especially in the hands. It is often confused with Parkinson's disease but is a separate condition and is actually much more common. Essential tremor can affect people of any age, but it most often develops in middle-aged and older adults. Although usualy not a dangerous condition, it can progressively worsen over time and can significantly interfere with a person's ability to perform daily activities. Its cause is not fully understood, but it often runs in families, indicating a genetic component to the disorder.

Wikidata

  1. Essential tremor

Essential tremor is a degenerative disorder of the central nervous system whose most recognizable feature is a tremor of the arms or hands during voluntary movements such as eating and writing. In many respects it resembles Idiopathic Parkinson's disease. Essential tremor is commonly described as an action tremor rather than a resting tremor; rigidity, such as is seen in Parkinson’s, is usually not included among its symptoms. In practice, however, there is far less difference between Essential Tremor and Parkinson's Disease than is often assumed.

U.S. National Library of Medicine
