    East Lothian, is a lieutenancy area. It borders the City of Edinburgh, Midlothian and the Scottish Borders. When the Administration arm of the County was transferred in 1975 for local government purposes, the county of East Lothian bordered the county of Midlothian to the west, and the county of Berwick to the south.
