1.  bath, stripping
In electro-plating a solution used for dissolving and thus removing the plating from any object. The stripping bath is of the same general type as the plating bath for the same metal as the one to be dissolved. The object to be "stripped" is made the anode of a plating circuit, and as the current acts the old plating is attacked and dissolves, leaving the body of the article bare. It is simply the operation of plating reversed. The same term is applied to baths acting by simple solution. Stripping baths are described under the different metals as Silver Bath, Stripping--Gold Bath, Stripping.
